There are few greater gifts someone can give another human being than the gift of life.

One woman did just that for two gay dads-to-be on the opposite side of the world.

Angie from Ontario, Canada met French couple Sam and John through Canadian Fertility Consulting, Metro reports.

You may ask why the men decided to have a baby with a surrogate mother almost 4,000 miles away rather than someone closer to home.

The past 48 hours of my life have been some of the most emotional Ive ever experienced. Every birth is an honour. Each time I am grateful. I am in awe of what women are capable of, despite the fact that Ive seen it first hand 4 times. There is NOTHING like watching a woman, persevere and trust her body to deliver a baby, that she will not mother. I am forever in love with Angie, and the men who's lives she changed by making them Daddies. I don't know how I am not going to share every single image from this birth. Surrogacy is life giving. @birthbecomesher @canadian_birth_photographers @birthwithoutfear @birthunited @empoweredbirthproject . . #birthbecomesher #surrogacy #surrogacyincanada #birthwithoutfear #loveislove #birthunited #empoweredbirthproject #positivebirth #homesweethomebirth #homebirth #feelthefeelings #birthphotographer #birthphotography #midwife #bumpbirthandbeyond #thebirthnarrative #birthphotogs #ldnont #ldnontbirthphotographer #stopcensoringmotherhood #dontforgetdads #bestofdad #fatherhood #surrogate #love #birthunitedus #birthisbeautiful #motherhoodrising #skintoskin

In France, all forms of surrogacy have been illegal since 1994’s Bioethics Act, whereas in Canada, women can carry a baby for another couple – as long as they are not paid more than expenses to do so.

And the amazing moment Sam and John’s baby came into the world was captured by professional birth photographer Meagan Adams, who shared some of the images on her Instagram feed.

“The past 48 hours of my life have been some of the most emotional I’ve ever experienced,” she said.

“Every birth is an honour. Each time I am grateful. I am in awe of what women are capable of, despite the fact that I’ve seen it first hand 4 times.”

She continued: “There is NOTHING like watching a woman, persevere and trust her body to deliver a baby, that she will not mother.

“I am forever in love with Angie, and the men who’s lives she changed by making them Daddies.

“I don’t know how I am not going to share every single image from this birth.”

The baby was born at Angie’s home, as a water birth.

While surrogacy is not for everyone, it can be an amazing way for same-sex male couples to become parents.

Earlier this year, a gay couple living in Australia were overjoyed when over 40 women responded to their advert for a Maori egg donor.
Some men have even used their own mothers as surrogates for their children.
