RIP Karar Noshi

Actor Karar Noshi was reportedly kidnapped and killed in Baghdad, Iraq for ‘looking gay’.

A graduate student of Baghdad University’s College of Fine Arts had a large following online due to his long blond hair and fashionable style. Many called him the ‘Beauty King of Iraq’.

Noshi’s body was dumped on a street in central Baghdad, Kurdistan 24 are reporting, with evidence ‘he had been tortured and viciously stabbed’.

People have posted a picture claiming it to be his body’s corpse on Facebook.

His family confirmed his death on the same day his body was discovered.

‘[ISIS’] ideology is still active,’ Hussain Al-Iraqi wrote in Arabic on Twitter. ‘You want proof? The killing of Karar Noshi.’

US-based Iraqi human rights activist Faisal Al Mutar wrote on Facebook Noshi had been killed after being ‘accused of being gay’.

He also blamed extremist Shia militias for Noshi’s death.

Noshi had previously criticized negative comments about his appearance, saying Iraq’s true ‘beauty king’ was ‘every young man fighting with all his honor to defend the nation’.

‘As for the pictures, they are from theatrical and cinematic works of art, which I pride myself on,’ he added.

‘They killed [Karar Noshi] only because he does not look like them’.

‘I cherish my personal freedom to build a unique external appearance. I remain silent about the abusive responses that undoubtedly reflect the level of their writers.’

On Shakwmakw, a popular Facebook page for Iraqis, the actor’s killing was condemned. ‘They killed him only because he does not look like them.’
