His name is Arin Andrews and her name is Katie Hill and they are America’s first open transgender couple. They began transitioning in 2012 and they met in mid process and immediately felt an attraction towards one another.
Their love story instantly became an inspiration to thousands of teenagers worldwide and they have even been subjected to a BBC documentary called “Young, trans and looking for love”, where they share their life’s difficulties of being born in a different body, stories of happiness and love and the way the world views them and others like them around the world.
They have even received supporting messages and confessions coming from people going through the same things as they do and that found support in their story. An 18 year old teenager called Devon Ellerman said that his transitioning to male was a lot easier after he met Andrew’s story: “When I was younger I saw a few of Arin’s videos. Watching his videos definitely made me feel that I wasn’t all alone. There’s folks out there that feel the same way I do.”
The two are no longer together now, but they have remained close friends and their story continues to inspire people from all over the world. Arin Andrews even appeared in Seventeen Magazine a month ago and he wrote a book.
It seems like life is easier when you are happy with who you are.
