The Young and the Restless star, Greg Rikaart and his husband welcomed their son on Sunday, the same day of the Orlando anti-gay attack. They announced the big event on Instagram, sending an encouraging message despite the horrific event:

‘We fight hate, fear, bigotry, homophobia and injustice in the world with love, intellect and enlightenment.

‘In the truest and most pure definitions of the latter words, it is with full hearts that (husband) Rob (Sudduth) and I take great pride in introducing our son, Montgomery Argo Rikaart-Sudduth.’
Rikaart became dad for the first time in Roseville, California, at 5:01 pm and the baby was born via surrogate mother.

The US soap star, came out as gay three years ago on Twitter, the same day US Supreme Cour allowed same-sex marriage in California. Rikaart and TV writer Sudduth got married last year on a beach in Maui.

Rikaart played the role of Kevin Fisher in The Young and the Restless and he declared that he wanted his character to be gay:
‘I think it would be a super interesting story to tell,’ he said. ‘I think it would be more socially responsible than just bringing on a gay character – to have someone on the canvas that the audience knows and thinks of as family and takes that (coming out) journey.’
