Although there are thousands of people out there who view openly gay Olympian Gus Kenworthy as a hero and an all-around good guy, unfortunately, there are those who don’t. Some of them are, of course, the rampant internet trolls that we have all had to deal with from time to time, except the ones that Gus is dealing with as of recent just prove how alive homophobia is in 2018.
He screenshotted several comments left on his YouTube page that pretty much highlight the grotesque amounts of homophobia that is out there. Some of these comments include lines like “Go die of aids” to “Gus you are nothing but a sperm drinking, ass f***ing fag” and many more.
Them: It's 2018 nobody cares that you're gay. Homophobia doesn't exist anymore. Get over yourself.

He captioned the post with “Them: It’s 2018 nobody cares that you’re gay. Homophobia doesn’t exist anymore. Get over yourself.” Clearly, he has a point and even though we have made strides over the past 40 years, these sorts of people clearly do exist.

The post has close to 30,000 likes and 10,000 retweets, with support for Gus and the community coming from all angles, including Chelsea Clinton, who had this to say:
