Kristian Nairn says it’s a “disgrace” that his native Northern Ireland has yet to legalize same-sex marriage.

Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn has revealed that he might run for office someday in order to bring marriage equality to Northern Ireland.

Nairn, an openly gay actor and DJ best known for his role as lovable giant Hodor on GoT, recently opened up about his political ambitions in an interview with the Belfast Telegraph.

“I really don’t understand why we’re the only little enclave of the country that can’t do it,” he said. “I hope that we can come into line with the rest of Europe and the rest of the United Kingdom and Ireland.”

“There’s so much other horrible sh*t happening in the world at the minute, I think it’s the least of their worries. I think we need to get it sorted out as soon as possible.”

Nairn, who launched his career as a drag artist named Revvlon, branded Northern Ireland’s failure to support same-sex marriage “a disgrace” and added that he’s considering running for office in the future in order to ensure equality for all.

“Of course I have had thoughts about going into politics,” he remarked. “I certainly don’t mean now, definitely not, but in the future who knows?”

“I definitely would be prepared to make the change myself if it’s going to help my community and help other people.”

“It’s just making sure that everyone’s treated equally,” he concluded. “Is that so progressive? I don’t think it’s progressive, I think it’s human. And not just gay people—women’s rights, immigrants, people of different ethnic backgrounds.”

In other news, Nairn has been nominated for the Tearjerker award at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards for his iconic death scene in the last season of Game of Thrones.
