Karamo Brown has been one of the most talked about people in 2018, thanks to his part on the reboot of Queer Eye on Netflix.

His passion for the subjects on the show equate to his passion on issues that occur outside of the program, some of which negative and racist comments he’s received over the years for not only his skin color, but because of him being in an interracial relationship for the better part of the decade.

Karamo attended the red carpet for the Human Rights Campaign gala over the weekend in Los Angeles, where his plus one was his partner of almost eight years Ian Jordan. The two looked simply dashing in the photo he posted on his Instagram, with Karamo showing a pop of color in red and Ian looking very handsome in white.

The caption for the photo, however, took more of a serious tone as he explained the problems the two of them had to face over the years regarding people’s disapproval of them being in an interracial relationship and how they both remain positive throughout it all.

“With my partner of 7 (almost 8) yrs at the @humanrightscampaign Gala,” Karamo captioned. “Over the years We’ve received so many racist comments from people who disapprove of us being in an interracial relationship. But ignorance will never win when love and kindness are leading the way. Wishing everyone the same happiness and joy that we have! #Love.”

The photo, which has almost 40,000 likes, has generated a ton of positive feedback from his followers, with one saying “Love is Love, no matter who you are, and love & kindness will always be more powerful than hate. You two make a beautiful couple, and I wish you many more wonderful years ahead.”
