Katya appears in Netflix’s revival of classic LGBTI TV show Tales of the City, it has been revealed.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race legend will ‘officiate a leather wedding’, according to Armistead Maupin, who wrote original books on which the show is based.

The series drops worldwide on Netflix today, Friday 7 June.

‘Katya is officiating at a leather wedding!’ Armistead confirmed in a recent interview with Gay Star News. ‘Where I’m in the audience, with my husband! That’s my cameo!’

He furthermore shared: ‘The day of that, they [the cast and crew] came out and presented us with a cake because it was our anniversary. That was an amazing feeling!’

Christopher Turner is the husband of Armistead. The couple recently moved from San Francisco, California, where Tales is set, to the English capital, London.

Speaking about his love for RuPauls’ Drag Race, Armistead said: ‘That’s a masterful piece of entertainment. Sasha Velour got me involved because she said publicly that Tales was the queerest book ever written.’

‘I loved her for that!’ he furthermore added. ‘So I got on board!’

Tales, which will also feature RPDR alum Bob the Drag Queen, stars , Olympia Dukakis, Ellen Page and also . It first aired in 1992.

Murray [above with Laura Linney], who plays Michael ‘Mouse’ recently told us: ‘I saw the first season when I first came to San Francisco. I was obsessed. My friend had it on VHS… that’s how old I am!’

Reflecting the LGBTI haven of San Francisco, he furthermore added: ‘It’s interesting, the Tales tagline: “Home is a feeling.” What sticks is “home”.

‘That’s what it feels like when you come here, find a community you feel you belong to by default. It was also one of the major centers for LGBTQ rights. You just feel that.’
