Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has reportedly been in rehab for the past month.
Page Six news broke the story that 32-year-old Harington checked into the Privé-Swiss in Connecticut nearly a month ago, which costs $120,000 a month, to deal with alcohol abuse and stress.
Sources tell Page Six that the end of GOT “really hit Kit hard.”
“He realized ‘this is it — this is the end’, it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, ‘What next?’”
“He’s in the clinic predominantly for stress and exhaustion and also alcohol.”
“His wife Rose is being extremely supportive. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet.”
To those who have been playing close attention to Harington, this comes as no surprise. The actor has not only had rumors of drunken binges for the past few years, but he’s also openly talked about his mental health being deeply affected by the show.
Back in March, Harington shared how he sought a therapist because of fan expectations from the show. After the end of season six, when the fate of his character was uncertain, Jon had to dodge countless fans hounding him for spoilers. He says that experience led him to having monumental stress.
In addition, Harington, who was 21 at the start of the GOT, shared with Jimmy Kimmel that he had a mental breakdown towards the show’s completion.
Sources say that Harington’s wife, Rose Leslie, is supporting him through this tough time. Locals who saw Harington walking around town, as he’s allowed to leave the rehab on breaks, also say he looked healthy and happy.
We send our best wishes to Harington during this tough time.
