The Hunger Games star doesn’t believe marriage equality should be subject to a vote.

Liam Hemsworth has spoken out to urge Australians to vote ‘Yes’ to marriage equality in the country’s ongoing poll on the issue.

The Hunger Games star, whose older brother Chris voiced his own support for equal marriage last month, took to Instagram on Tuesday (September 19) to make his own plea for equality.

In the post, Liam wrote that he doesn’t “believe” that same-sex marriage should come down to a vote.

“I believe it’s a HUMAN RIGHT to be able to marry the person you love regardless of gender. To all the Australians that care about equality and human rights please say YES to same-sex marriage.”

He adds: “Let’s not be silly about this. Vote YES for same-sex marriage in Australia.”

Australia’s controversial poll has already divided the country’s national rugby team, as well as the country a whole.

Other prominent Aussie stars including Kylie and Danni Minogue have already come out in support of the ‘Vote Yes’ campaign, though Australian tennis legend Margaret Court has expressed her opposition to LGBT+ equality, even going so far as to argue that same-sex marriage could lead to the end of Christmas in Australia.

The result of Australia’s poll, which will see registered voters aged 18 and over answer the question ‘Should the law be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry?’, is set to be announced on November 15.
