I don't really know what happened, but it's just one of those gut feelings. It's the same gut feeling I had when I said, OK, I kind of just need to talk to people about the fact that I am. I'm gay. And that's it.

During a conversation with Bret Easton Ellis on his podcast, talked about his private life, including his marriage, divorce and sexuality.

Last August the synthpop musician split with his wife, Kristina Mucci after struggling with understanding his sexuality and accepting it:

“It’s always been about putting it off in my head — not consciously,” he said. I just wanted so badly to be straight, because I love her so much.”

But what made him marry his ex-wife in the first instance? This may be the answer:

“I was just going through so many difficult issues with girls in general that when I started dating my wife, she just quieted them … she was such a good friend that it became kind of a non-issue — ‘OK, I don’t have to think about it for now.”

Michael stated that it’s the first time he publicly talks about this, and he felt comfortable to do it on the Bret Easton Ellis podcast.

When this was all happening recently, finally, I just decided it might be best to talk about it here. I don’t really know what happened, but it’s just one of those gut feelings. This was exactly the type of situation where I don’t feel like I’m being threatened.”

For those who struggle with the issue of coming out, the 28-year-old musician might be an inspiration.
