WorldPride in New York City will see crowds that could swell into the millions during the parade and closing ceremonies on June 30. But celebrations have been flourishing throughout the “pride month” of June with festivals big and small, and celebrants arrived wearing lots of rainbow colors and pride pink.
Dressing up in bright outfits is one of the most fun parts of celebrating the anniversary of Stonewall each year, and there have been some people who took “pride” to the next level.
Here are some of our favorite pride outfits during the June 2019 season.
EuroPride 2019, Vienna, Austria
EuroPride is hosted by a different city every year, and for 2019 Vienna was chosen to celebrate Austria’s legalization of marriage equality this year. Besides the parade and festival, EuroPride in Vienna also included the world-famous Life Ball, an opulent HIV/AIDS fundraiser with elaborately costumed performers and major celebs in attendance.
The ever-dreamy Nyle DiMarco, below, attended Life Ball, and even when he is wearing a beautiful black tuxedo, he always shows up with a touch of rainbow colors thanks to those big beautiful blue eyes so we had to include him anyway…
Exmouth Pride, Exmouth, England
Capital Pride, Washington, D.C.
Pride Houston, Houston, Tex.
Philly Pride, Philadelphia, PA
Look at that t-shirt. GayCities living it up in Philadelphia…
Tel Aviv Pride, Tel Aviv, Israel
Despite Israel’s reputation in the news as a war-torn country, Tel Aviv is one of the party capitals of the world, and the beach on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea is divine. For Tel Aviv Pride 2019, apparently suspenders were a big thing:
Pride Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland:
Denver PrideFest, Denver, Colo.
Roma Pride, Rome, Italy
Wait, who is that guy? Let’s get a closer look:
Well buongiorno to you! Ok, back to the pride outfits:
Kyiv Pride, Kiev, Ukraine
To put some perspective on what it takes to have a pride festival in Kiev, organizers of the pride march received death threats, and police protected the participants from protestors:
But it looks like they had fun anyway:
La Parada do Orgulho GLBT de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil
Brazilians enjoy a street party, and statistics show the pride parade and festival in São Paulo is the largest in the world with an estimated crowd of over 3 million people. Just try to comprehend the size of this crowd:
