‘Please know that there are good, loving people out there who embrace your light’.

Openly gay singer Steve Grand is reaching out to young fans in the wake of Donald Trump’s unexpected win in the election for president of the United States.

‘My LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters (especially our young ones), please remember you are not alone,’ the All-American Boy singer wrote in an Instagram post.

‘The world can be an ugly, dark place, but please know that there are good, loving people out there who embrace your light.’
He added: ‘Don’t stop shining and don’t let the fire inside your beautiful soul die. You will find your people, and together WE WILL RISE.’

Grand also used lyrics from one of his song, We Are the Night, to make his point: ‘They’re gonna say we just ain’t right, but we are the night, WE ARE THE NIGHT.’

In case there are those who are feeling despondent over the election results to the degree that they are feeling suicidal, Grand’s post also includes the following numbers: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255, Crisis Text Line: Text START to 741-741, The Trevor Project (LBGT+): 1-866-488-7386 and Trans Lifeline: (877) 565-8860.
