2020 hopeful Marianne Williamson spoke for just under nine minutes during last night’s Democratic presidential debate in Detroit–roughly half the airtime enjoyed by Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders–but she made the most of those nine minutes. By the end of the nearly three-hour debate, Williamson was the most-searched candidate of the evening, according to Google Trends, and managed to get in several memorable one-liners, including one about the failure of “this wonkiness” to combat “this dark psychic force of the...

On the left, Robert Redford and Patricia Blair in 1964 film The Virginian; on the right, the well-known Nodding Head Meme Guy. They are one in the same! / Images via NBC Universal and YouTube screen capture. Splinter News writer Nick Martin caused a bit of a commotion yesterday when he asked, in an aptly titled headline, “Did You Know the Nodding Meme Guy Is Robert Freakin’ Redford???” “Nodding Meme Guy,” formally known as “Nod of Approval” for those not in...

After video of Ivanka Trump awkwardly inserting herself into a conversation with several world leaders at the G20 summit in Japan went viral last weekend, the whole world was laughing at the United State of America. And rightfully so. Many couldn’t help but wonder what the president’s daughter, who has zero qualifications to serve as a diplomatic representative of the United States, was doing at there in the first place. Pretty soon the hashtag #UnwantedIvanka was trending on social media, with...

And rightfully so. Many people couldn’t help but wonder what the president’s eldest daughter, who has zero qualifications to serve as a diplomatic...

Right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has officially been declared grand marshal for Boston’s upcoming “Straight Pride” parade after Brad Pitt threatened to sue organizers for using him to promote the event last week. “I’ve spent my entire career advocating for the rights of America’s most brutally repressed identity — straight people — so I know a thing or two about discrimination,” Yiannopoulos said in a statement. The parade is tentatively scheduled for August 31. source

You’ve likely heard by now that a far-right group called Super Happy Fun America is holding a “Straight Pride” parade in Boston later this summer. According to its website, Super Happy Fun America wants to “celebrate the diverse history, culture, and contributions of the straight community.” One of the group’s of three founding members is a man by the name of Chris Bartley, who identifies as gay. On Wednesday, Bartley told Queerty he’s working to bring “Straight Pride” to Boston in an effort...

Image via Etsy @VICTAXIDERMYLast week, the world was rocked by the news that the PBS Kids’ show Arthur was still on the air. More specifically, many were overjoyed to hear of the news that Arthur premiered the gay wedding of teacher Mr. Ratburn. But, not everyone was happy, as some conservatives expressed outrage over the storyline. For instance, Alabama Public Television refused to broadcast the gay wedding episode. But despite some pushback, the...
coming out

Coming out isn't a simple thing for a lot of LGBT people. Some of them think over the plan of their coming out for years before they reveal their decisions to be gay, lesbian or transgender person to their nearest and dearest. Some people are afraid of relatives' reaction to such news. So they hide in their closets and don't tell anybody about their preferences. But there are LGBT people who have supportive parents who understand the choice of their...

A rock star like reputation means virtually two things: public appeal and popularity. We can’t definitively say that Kim Davis is likely to be voted the most adored person in the world anytime soon, but she sure excels when it comes to popularity. We pretty much doubt that she needs any further introduction, but, for those who don’t know her, she is the County clerk that refused to issue gay marriage licenses to any gay couples, invoking her “religious...
