Who is Sivan’s new boyfriend Lauv?

Troye Sivan just hinted at breaking up with his boyfriend and getting into a new relationship with fellow singer Lauv.

The Bloom singer took to social media over the weekend (25 January) to announce the new relationship. Troye Sivan also announced a new song collaboration with Lauv, i’m so tired.

Sivan wrote in captions across social media: ‘catch me and my new bf [Lauv] performing our new SMASH “i’m so tired” on [Jimmy Kimmel] feb 6th.’

At the time of writing, the song has more than 6.2 million streams on Spotify. The video features both Sivan and Lauv simply driving and dancing along to the song.

Sivan then quote-tweeted a tweet that said: ‘Troye Sivan reveals that he has a new boyfriend and is nothing more and nothing less than the talented Lauv. Both recently launched a single called “I’m So tired”. Promotion?’

The question at the end of the tweet led many to believe the revelation may all just be a publicity stunt.

Troye Sivan and Jacob Bixenman started dating in 2016 and have since moved in together.

There is no public comment yet from Bixenman on his relationship status.

But Sivan recently said: ‘It’s kind of like having your best friend around all the time, which is really nice. I think LA can get lonely and you sort of have to build a life for yourself.’

Speaking about their relationship, Jacob told Gay Times: ‘We’re both people who share ourselves online but need privacy and really value close personal relationships so balancing that line of how much to give away can be interesting.

‘Otherwise our relationship is really easy,’ he added.

Who is Lauv?

Lauv (real name Ari Staprans Leff) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer, born in San Fransisco, California.

The 24-year-old is most known for single I Like Me Better. He has not previously publicly come out as gay.

He took to Instagram earlier this month to record a video of him talking about Sivan, where he mentions him as his ‘friend’.

Lauv said in the video: ‘I just made, for no reason at all, a playlist with my friend Troye Sivan – our favorite songs to sleep to. So there’s nothing implied whatsoever. Just check out that playlist if you want to fall asleep randomly.’

He also referenced Troye Sivan as an ‘iconic friend’ in a New Year’s Day tweet.

So it sounds like this may all just be a publicity stunt after all.
