The footage also stars Layla Shaikley, founder of the #mipsterz (Muslim hipster) movement. It makes a powerful statement in its 90-second running time.

The soundtrack to the clip is Real Love Baby, by local star Father John Misty. Furthermore, paper planes fly around the skyline, symbolising people from different parts of the world flying into the city.

A spokesperson for Discover Los Angeles said Tourism Economics, an independent research partner, has predicted a potential three-year loss of 800,000 international visitors to LA. This is due to a perceived ‘anti-welcome sentiment’.

These visitors typically spend $920 (£716, €857) each while in LA, totalling a potential loss of $736 million (£572m, €686m) in direct tourism spending.

Ernest Wooden Jr., President and CEO for Discover Los Angeles added: ‘Diversity and inclusivity have always been cornerstones of Los Angeles culture, but there has never been a more crucial time to reinforce these points.

‘As one of the planet’s most diverse metro areas with residents hailing from 140 countries who speak more than 224 different languages, Los Angeles is uniquely poised to launch such a campaign.’
