‘It can be easy to fall in love, but to stay in love takes consistent work,’ say the Seattle husbands

A short video featuring a couple of gay yoga enthusiasts has gone viral since first appearing on Facebook last month.

In it, Seattle-based husbands Elvis and Teddy Garcia discuss the challenges of keeping a relationship on track.

Like the yoga they enjoy, it’s often a question of balance and effective communication!

Fitness app, Cody, made the video. Elvis told GSN that the video came about as he is good friends with the team behind the app.

‘When you’re in a relationship, it’s about what’s better for the team’

He says that he and Teddy have been together for just over four years.

‘We met through mutual friends as well as having similar interest in both dance and movement. We married 20 June 2015 and live in Seattle where we own a little yoga studio, Seattle Yoga Lounge.’

‘Love is compromising because it’s not all about what I want,’ says Elvis in the video. ‘When you’re in a relationship, it’s about what’s better for the team, because you’re now a team.

‘It’s easy to fall in love,’ adds Teddy, ‘But to stay in love is a consistent work on both parties part, to be able to nurture the relationship between us and to grow ourselves farther.’

The men say they have been taken aback by the feedback they’ve had to the film, which has been viewed over 600,000 times.

‘Honestly, we were surprised by the success of the video but we are both really happy that our message of love was being shared!

‘All of our feedback has been extremely positive. From family and local friends who visit the studio to messages from around the country expressing joy and inspiration.

‘We believe that yoga has a huge impact on our daily lives, not only because we run a business but because we practice on and off the mat.’

Elvis recently paid tribute to his husband in a touching Instagram posting.

‘I don’t talk about my husband on any social media, very much, and I’m also not the partner who boasts about every accomplishment. But I wanted to take a minute to talk about this man right here – my wonderful husband Teddy.

‘His hard work never goes unnoticed. His relentless dedication to the success of our business, the household, and our over all life is what drives him. He embodies unconditional love.’
