Jwan-Yosef-and-Ricky-Martin

Love in the 21st century, eh?

Puerto Rican sexbomb Ricky Martin recently got engaged to partner Jwan Yosef – breaking many, many hearts in the process – but the way they met is the perfect representation of the dating scene in 2017.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on SiriusXM radio this week, Ricky revealed that he first noticed Jwan through his Instagram profile. He followed the artist, exchanged messages with him for six months, and the rest, of course, is history.

He said: “I met my fiancé on Instagram. I’m an art collector, and he’s an artist, so I’m scrolling and I see this beautiful piece of art and I start checking and I was like, ‘Ooh, okay, yes, definitely’.

“And then I wrote to him, and we were talking for like six months – nothing sexy, I swear, it was all about art, and life in general – and he used to live in London, so I went to London and I met him.”

The singer revealed that he’s unsure when the wedding will take place, but did say that it will be a “big three day” event. He also extended an invitation to host Andy… although we’re still waiting for ours!

We decided to take a leaf out of Ricky Martin’s book and have a browse through Jwan’s Instagram account – here’s some of the most interesting photos we found during our research…

We were lucky enough to sit down for a chat with Ricky himself in our October issue, where he told us about his relationship with his kids and partner Jwan, and expressed his desire to tie the knot soon.

Ricky said: “I’m in a really good place at the moment. I’m in love, my kids are doing amazing, and my career as well. I couldn’t ask for more.

“I love the celebration of marriage regardless of gender, culture or religion. It’s a celebration of commitment and I’d love to go through that. When it will happen I don’t know, but it would be something wonderful.”

The pop sensation also spoke to us about coming out, explaining that although he has questioned why he didn’t do it sooner, he now realises that it’s “such an amazing experience, it’s a shame you only get to do it once!”.
