The Juno actress Ellen Page is celebrating Pride Month with non-other than her wife, professional dancer Emma Portner.
The couple posted a really intimate photo of embracing each other at the beginning of the month, and it touched the hearts of many.
The 32-year-old actress posted the photo of her and her wife as they are about to kiss, and the caption read: “HAPPY PRIDE!!! Sending love”.
Page revealed that she got married her 24-year-old partner in January 2018, and admitted in an interview with PorterEdit that she is “so in love” and absolutely adores “being married”.
Page said in the interview that she would be walking her dog, and she would start talking to people, and she ends up telling them about her wife and making them look at their Instagram.
The popular actress came out as gay at a Human Rights Campaign event back in 2014, and she gave a stirring speech there that earned her a standing ovation.
She acknowledged in her speech that Hollywood is more open and more accepting of gay stars now than it was when she was younger.
Page has since become an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ rights, even though she told PorterEdit that she believed it was impossible for her to come out in her early 20s. However, over time, with more representation, minds have changed.
The problem is that it doesn’t happen quickly enough, particularly for the most marginalized in the community, but things have certainly gotten better.
