Holding-Hands

A couple have been left “distressed” after experiencing homophobic abuse in central London.

The two men were walking down Villiers Street in Charing Cross at around 2am on Saturday 13 August when they were approached by a man who allegedly began shouting anti-gay slurs at them.

Metropolitan Police have released video footage of the man, which was filmed by one of the victims on their mobile phone, in an appeal to get more information and help find the perpetrator.

The man is described as slim, in his early 30s, and was wearing a black top, dark hooded jumper, jeans and trainers.

PC Emma Rogers, from Westminster CID, urged anyone with information to come forward, saying: “This is a shocking incident that has left both victims very distressed.

“We are keen to identify the man in the footage so we can speak to them about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”

You can see video footage of the suspect below.

Witnesses are urged to call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
