A man became enraged when he saw another woman kiss his victim on the cheek

A woman was brutally attacked by a homophobic man on a New York City subway.

The disturbing incident happened on 30 November, around 5:10 PM. Police have released footage of the attack and are on the lookout for the perpetrator.

The attack

On a Manhattan-bound E train, a man became enraged when he saw another woman kiss the 20-year-old victim on the cheek. He began to argue with the victim, calling her a d*ke.

The woman attempted to leave the situation, but the man followed her off the train. He punched her in the back of the head before throwing her to the ground, leaving her with a fractured spine.

The man ran off at the Forest Hills 71 Av station. The woman was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for her injuries.

Police describe the suspect as 5’11” and around 220 pounds. He is estimated to be between 50 and 60 years old. In the video, he can be seen wearing a camouflage vest, glasses, and a black beanie.

Police have not released information about the relationship of the two women in question, only saying they were acquaintances.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the assault.

Anything else?

Other homophobic attacks on public transportation have occurred this year. Back in October, a British man was jailed after attacking a gay teenager on a bus. In August, a man threatened a train full of passengers returning from Brighton Pride. And in June, a gay army veteran prevented a homophobic assault on a London bus.
