"Gender norms are useless, they just reflect if people are either comfortable of scared."

For Jaden Smith gender norms are useless, they just reflect if people are either comfortable of scared. He made his vision public to the whole world not only on his social media where he’s posting his “no-gender” outfits but being part of Louis Vuitton’s spring-summer women’s ad campaign on Instagram.

In a recent interview he talked about he sees genders, or rather, the way he does’t see genders, we can assume that he doesn’t see a man or a woman, but a person. And that is a revolutionary way of thinking, coming from a young artist.

“I feel like people are kind of confused about gender norms. I feel like people don’t really get it. I’m not saying that I get it, I’m just saying that I’ve never seen any distinction. I don’t see man clothes and woman clothes, I just see scared people and comfortable people,” Jaden Smith said.

However, Smith’s perspective is larger, revealing the way he sees his sister in terms of “gender” or similarities between genders.

“I’d say it’s like full-on sibling brain connection. I’d say that she’s definitely the female version of me, one hundred per cent, in every single way. And I’d say I’m the male version of her.”

How did his parents react to his style and way of thinking?

“He is so completely comfortable and confident in who he is and when I look at him, I really admire that.

“Then I was like, ‘OK. You cannot wear a skirt.’ He said to me, ‘Dad, it’s fine. It’s going to be so hot all the kids will be wearing it.’ I said, ‘No, the kids are not going to do it because their parents will have sense enough to not let them do it.’ But he’s confident in who he is and who he wants to be,” Will Smith said about his son.
