“Are you okay with having a gay son?”

In a clip from the next episode of Black Ink Crew, one of the newest tattoo artists on the series, Kevin Laroy, finally decides to come out to his father.

In the scene, Kevin’s father visits Kevin at his New York apartment. The two haven’t seen each other in a few years, so Kevin is “definitely nervous to open up to him” about his sexuality, as he confesses in the clip.

After some liquid courage Kevin finally comes out as gay, and his father takes it well, surprising Kevin.

“My love for you is my love for you,” his dad tells him.

“I cant be judgmental, not towards you, son,” he explains. “I may not agree with it, but it’s your life, not mine. What makes Kevin happy, at the end of the day thats what it’s all about.”

Kevin can’t believe how well his dad took it, saying he was “shocked as hell” at his positive reaction.

“It’s a huge relief,” he adds.

Kevin—or Baby Face Killa—is one of the newest additions to the Black Ink Crew family, but before he joined the VH1 reality series, he was featured on Season 8 of Spike TV’s Ink Master.

Hopefully now that he has opened up to his father about his sexuality, the two can be closer in the future.

“He’s a whole new man to me now,” says Kevin.
