The same team that started this trend strikes again. They first published a ravishing 2012 gay calendar that brought waves of opposition in both the Romanian press and abroad and their work was labeled by the Romanian Patriarchy as “an obvious intent of calumny regarding the reputation of Christian servants of the Lord”. Now, the 2016 new calendar brings another artistic vision regarding the phenomenon of religious discrimination towards the LGBT community. The most obvious proof supporting this idea is the fact that both Putin and Patriarch Kirill are depicted as…each other’s brides on the cover of the magazine.
It is a long known fact that both of them have been reluctant to say the least, towards accepting the LGBT rights. Magdalena de Iona, a spokesman for the publication, declared that the intention was not to attack any religious beliefs, but to raise awareness to the majority of the homophobic beliefs that over 90% Orthodox Romanian society holds.
Even more, the Romanian Orthodox Church conducted an inquiry which took place last year, as it was suspected that some of the photos in the calendar depicted actual Romanian priests. In the end it came out that the men posing were simply gay models. However, this year’s calendar is hot enough to put the Church on fire again and we can all see why. In addition, the calendar comes with another fascinating and artistic introductory video meant to bring another perspective on the LGBT community and to show that faith has nothing to do with freedom to love. And we can all savor its deliciousness.
