Football v Homophobia
“You cannot be a good team, you cannot be good actors, unless everyone is doing it together and there is no place for name calling or saying that we’re all different and therefore we shouldn’t get on.”

Famous actor Sir Ian McKellen recently visited an anti-homophobia event at the Macron Stadium that is a home of Bolton Wanderers club. Being an ardent supporter of LGBT, he couldn’t miss this event. He supported Football vs Homophobia campaign 2015, that has been launched earlier in February 2015 in Manchester, at the National Football Museum.

Bolton Wanderers’ Community Trust and the Football v Homophobia campaign were responsible for the organization of this event.

Sir Ian  shared his thoughts in a later interview, concerning the event “What a wonderful initiative, if sport is about anything it’s about getting on with people isn’t it?”

“You cannot be a good team, you cannot be good actors, unless everyone is doing it together and there is no place for name calling or saying that we’re all different and therefore we shouldn’t get on.”

“We are all different thank goodness and we do get on and for the lads and the little girls to be learning it at their age is absolutely fantastic.”

By the way, AFC Wimbledon has become the first professional football club in Britain that joined the Football Fans against Homophobia campaign in 2013, which aims to support a movement against discrimination in football.

Since that time many football teams joined this campaign also. Among them are such premier league clubs as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester city and Manchester United.
