As Brown was dancing on the beach, he was unsolicitedly splashed with water from people he had never met. He told Gay Star News that he asked: ‘Why did you splash me with water?’ To...

A group of LGBT+ students were subjected to homophobic chanting during their school homecoming in Kansas last week. Members of the Gender-Sexuality Alliance Club participated in their annual parade Olathe Northwest High School, but were met with taunts of “Make America straight again” from a small number of the crowd. They were subjected to numerous slurs and dirt being thrown at them, as well as being told to go kill themselves. What’s more, the harassment even spilled onto social media, with a...

It’s more than you’d expect… While LGBT+ people have won some significant rights in recent years, there’s still much to be done – especially if you take Gallup’s polling data into consideration. The company have been asking American citizens if they think same-sex relations between two consenting adults should be legal or not be legal since the 1970s. The Washington Post recently unearthed the data and found that a fifth of Americans (23%) still believe gay relations should be illegal. As you can...

American guy dressed up in a Swiss costume, while the Swiss guy dressed up like an American When any couple from two different countries get together, it’s important that you share your cultures. For one same-sex couple living in Zurich, Swirzerland, they decided to take that literally with a cute engagement photo shoot. The American dressed up in lederhosen and carried an aiphorn, while his Swiss fiancé wore jeans, a ‘I HEART LA’ t-shirt and carried a (photoshopped) eagle. The photo was taken...
marriage

A new Gallup poll has found that a record number of Americans support marriage equality! The survey found that 64% of American adults believe same-sex marriage should be legal. This is the highest percentage to date and continues the generally steady rise since Gallup's trend began in 1996. The survey also found that Republican support for same-sex marriage has also reached a record high. https://www.instagram.com/p/BUGcWpWjTuX/ In recent decades, many GOP leaders adamantly opposed gay marriage, but rank-and-file Republicans' support has nearly tripled since 1996....

Quite a lot, it turns out. It’s hard not to feel like America is getting gayer: It isn’t just the plethora of LGBT characters on TV, or the apparent boom in straight girls living for RuPaul’s Drag Race. There’s a persistent feeling that the citizenry as a whole are more accepting of the homos among them. Even here in the heart of the South—where I’ve been living for the past six months—folks seem mostly curious when I tell them I...

Olympic gymnast Danell Leyva has declared his support for the LGBT community. The US athlete, who won two silver medals at the Rio Olympics this week, shared a video where he spoke about the safety of LGBT people following the Orlando nightclub shooting, where 49 people lost their lives.
