The Life Group LA will host the second annual “Elevate: The Next Level of Care for HIV & Aging,” a one day free seminar that addresses legal concerns of those who are HIV+ and 50+, as well as those who love them. The event will be held in West Hollywood on May 18, 2019 from 10am-5pm. Location is disclosed upon registration.
“We are hoping that participants walk away knowing that they are supported,” The Life Group LA’s Executive Director, Sunnie Rose Berger, told WEHO TIMES. “We also hope that they leave with some peace of mind knowing their rights and the confidence to access the free resources we are providing them to get their Legal matters in order. The difference from last years seminar is that it was 2 days and we provided an array of different topic’s,” Bergera added. “This year we are providing a one day seminar focused on Legal Preparedness.”
Whether a person is aging with HIV or a long-term thriver, this workshop will invigorate and re-awaken a connection to community, self-care and purpose. It’s easy to feel left out and unprepared with the reality of growing older with HIV. Elevate: The Next Level of Care for HIV & Aging seminar is dedicated to connecting individuals with experts in HIV care, aging, and the law with lots of time for questions and in depth conversations that will leave individuals feeling informed, prepared, and elevated.
Topics presented during this 1-day seminar. It will focus on discrimination (employment and housing), disability, medical Rights, creating or revising legal documents (wills, trusts, financial, Healthcare Powers of Attorney), connections to pro-bono services integrating healthcare teams for optimal health.
Key note speakers include Marina Pantchenko, Attorney at Law – Discrimination & Disability Rights; Michael P Flattery, Attorney at Law- Wills, Trusts, Financial and Medical Power of Attorney and Joseph Leahy, Janssen Educator and Community Liaison.
