The Republican Party in Texas wanted to come with a policy against gay people so they put up on their platform the following motion:

“Homosexuality is a chosen behavior that is contrary to the fundamental unchanging truths that has been ordained by God in the Bible, recognized by our nations founders, and shared by the majority of Texans.”

Their purpose was to deny homosexuality on the grounds of religion, but instead they messed up the grammar and their motion actually says that “Homosexuality is a chosen behavior that is contrary to the fundamental unchanging truths that has been ordained by God in the Bible, recognized by our nations founders, and shared by the majority of Texans.

As Reuters remarked, the misuse of the singular “has been” makes sense when attached to “homosexuality” and not to “truths” that requires the verb “have.”

Party officials did not make any comments.
