Travel blogger couple on cruising in Ecuador and honeymooning in Antartica

Do you ever hope to get married, and if so, would you consider a destination wedding?

Sebastien: Absolutely and it’s definitely on the cards!
Where would you go on your honeymoon?

Stefan: This is the source of many arguments – my dream is of a honeymoon cruise to Antarctica.

Sebastien: Whereas my ideal honeymoon is a road trip across the USA.

Where’s been your best trip and why?

Stefan: Our best trip to date was to the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador, a place we’ve been dying to visit for ages. It was amazing to get so close to nature, especially the playful sea lions and giant tortoises.

Where’s been your worst trip and why?

Sebastien: We visited Uruguay in September but for only a week and ended up rushing around a lot, not taking it in as much as we would want. We plan to revisit and spend more time there as it has so much to offer and is also one of the most gay friendly countries in Latin America.

Where was your most romantic trip and why?

Stefan: We had many romantic moments in Argentina, from dressing up as gauchos and riding horses together in the countryside of Buenos Aires to taking in the immensity of the magnificent Iguazu Falls.

Have you ever experienced homophobia or discrimination abroad?

Stefan: Overall we’ve been very lucky, but we have been more restrained, acting as ‘mates’ when visiting places like Russia. Or countries where being gay is illegal, like Sri Lanka, India or Malaysia. We have however experienced homophobia online, in particular one guy from Sri Lanka who took offence to us wearing sarongs and holding hands.

Sebastien: The translation of the above post from Sinhalese reads: ‘One of the reasons organizations like this are going to fail is because they let men wear women’s clothing and act like women’

Stefan: We also received a few homophobic comments in our Instagram post tribute to the Orlando bombings, with one user saying: ‘octavia_2005It says in the bible man is not aloud to sleep with man, get it thru your thick skull I’m not against gays I just think what u are doing is wrong your sick and stupid and pathetic.’

Do you prefer to travel solo or with a partner?

Sebastien: We have traveled solo in the past before we met in 2009 and loved it. However, we’ve absolutely no regrets about traveling together – there’s nothing more magical than being able to share all these many special memories with your lover.
What is your favorite thing about where you’re from?

Sebastien: I’m a very proud Frenchman, it’s the cheese, wine and food.

Stefan: I’m Greek Cypriot, so I love sipping ice cold Frape coffees on one of the many excellent beaches in Cyprus.

Would you avoid a certain country because of the laws there?

Sebastien: We have been hesitant with the more religious/Islamic countries and in the case of Brunei, completely avoided it during our big Asia trip. However, we have been to places where being gay is illegal, like India, Myanmar and Sri Lanka and we didn’t face any problems.

What is your top tip for surviving a long haul flight?

Stefan: Stock up on healthy snacks to eat on board as the food is usually terrible in economy. Research online what the entertainment system is like and what films are on offer. If it’s really bad, then pre download a few films to watch on your laptop/tablet.

What do you like to travel in?

Sebastien: In style of course, you never know when you’ll get an upgrade! Sadly, this has not yet happened, so we go for what is as comfortable as possible, loose pants and t shirt.

Where do you hope to visit this year and why?

Stefan: We will be returning to the Galapagos Islands [above] in Ecuador in October to lead another gay luxury cruise with our readers and are dead excited about this!

Where did you typically go on vacation as a kid?

Stefan: I used to visit family in Cyprus and Greece every summer growing up.

Sebastien: My family holidays growing up were to the South of France, especially to Corsica and the Cote d’Azur.
