Sarah Sanders is leaving the White House as press secretary, President Trump announced in a Tweet Thursday afternoon.

The president said Sanders would be leaving after more than three years at the White House.

“After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas,” Trump tweeted on Thursday.

“She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!” he added.

It has been three months since the White House held a press briefing.

Sanders’s last press briefing occurred on March 11, where she was asked about the lack of press briefings.
