One of the trendiest hashtags in U.S. these days is #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend, urging Marvel and Disney to include more gay characters into their movies.

Jess Salerno was the one who started the #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend hashtag on Twitter.

“I feel like it sucks that people in the LGBT community don’t get the representation that they deserve and it would be so amazing for something like Captain America or Marvel to be able to portray that,” he said in an interview.

Salerno highlights the importance of letting people know it’s ok to be who you are, and media has that power.
“Maybe just let people know that it’s okay to be who you are, you know?

He also thinks that making gay characters visible on the big screen, in super-hits like Captain America, would bring great benefits for future generations of LGBT people.
“You don’t have to be scared, especially to be able to have children grow up in that way, I feel like it would do amazing things for the future.”

Everyone sees a potential romance between Captain America and his best friend Bucky Barnes, or even with rival Tony Stark.

Marvel supports the LGBT community, that we know for sure, but we haven’t seen too much gay action in their superhero flicks. Maybe after this avalanche of Tweets asking for gay romance in Captain America, we’ll get to actually see it.
