Cristiano Ronaldo, the famous Portuguese soccer forward for the Portugal national team and the Spanish club Real Madrid has been the subject of gay rumblings in the past, but now there are photos to question the reality of those statements.
The Portugal team captain was claimed by the Spanish press to travel to Morocco multiple times per year to visit professional heavyweight kickboxer Badr Hari.
Known to date a series of supermodel girlfriends, the shocking story emerged when French TV host Estelle Denis publicly criticized the athlete’s lifestyle choices on air, also claiming Ronaldo had plastic surgery.
The Real Madrid management had been previously reported to have issue with Ronaldo’s frequent travels –aboard his private jet–to Morocco, stating his performance on the pitch was affected as a result. When pundits discussed the private activities of Ronaldo, Daniel Riolo stated “’Take the example of Cristiano Ronaldo – I’m sure flying off to Morocco three to four times a week to see a friend and cuddle with him might have an impact on his performances eventually.”
Photos of the duo appeared on Hari’s social media account over a month ago, depicted the two lounging at poolside. The first caption read: ‘Poolside chilling with my bro, always great to welcome you in my beautiful country.’
The next shot shows Ronaldo carried in Hari’s arms, with the accompanying caption “Just married hahahaha. Always there to pick you up bro.”
MailOnline has requested a response from Ronaldo’s staff.
Ronaldo has had cover stories of his relationships with top models, notably a 5 year long courtship of Russian beauty Irina Shayk.
Hari, also 30, who claims a “rags to riches” transformation, has a young daughter and lives in Morocco with his fame punctuated by his kickboxing talent. In the hotbed of anti-gay Morocco, where the law punishes what it calls acts of “sexual deviancy” in same sex couples, a court utilized term, the pair are more than racy.
This is far from the first time that Ronaldo has been the subject of a gay storyline. His keen attention to fashion and grooming has spurred on rumors in the past. He has also been the recipient of gay icon status by numerous previous publications. Regarding this, he has remarked “I’m at ease with my sexuality, so it’s not a problem for me.”
He has been questioned on his opinion over Portugal’s legalization of gay marriage, and stated in 2010: “We must respect the choices of each other, because, after all, all citizens should have the same rights and responsibilities.”
