The explicit pictures were then published in a local newspaper.
Authorities allegedly forced two men to pose naked for photos earlier this week before arresting them for having sex in a Ghana hotel room.
A hotel employee burst into the room and eventually called the police after growing suspicious of the 28-year-old man and his 18-year-old lover, according to Ghana media outlets.
The men were then ordered to pose naked together and even forced to simulate sex for some of the photos, which were spread across social media in an attempt to publicly shame them.
Local newspaper The Daily Guide published one of the photos of the naked men with the headline “Man Bonks [High School] Boy In Hotel.”
Despite the incident being reported as consensual between two men over the age of 18, the article accuses the older man of being a “known gay activist who lures young boys with money.” It claims they met on Facebook, and that the 28-year-old got him to the hotel room by offering him “juicy gifts.”
Both men are currently in custody while police investigate the incident. Homosexual acts are illegal in the African country and punishable by up to three years in prison.
