Sam Smith is back and this time with a danceable pop beat.
When you think of Sam Smith’s music, you often think of slower and more soulful sounds (not counting “Latch”). But now, Smith is back and with a more dance-worthy single. In fact, the singer has gotten some spectacular backup dancers and learned a few moves himself for a number and performance.
The song itself, which was co-written and co-produced by Smith and Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and ILYA, speaks of a toxic love that’s too hard to break. Some of the lyrics go:
The chorus then elaborates on this theme of sticking through a rocky relationship with a questionable lover.
As for the music video, it was directed by Grant Singer and choreographed by Parris Goebel. And this writer would be lying if I didn’t say I love it. I snapped. I clapped. And that ending! You’ll just have to see it for yourself.
