Is it the last release before the unveiling of the iPhone 8?
The iPhone is seeing red, and that’s a good thing.
Apple revealed that special red editions of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be available starting this Friday as part of its continued partnership with the (RED) program.
The charity partners with brands that contribute portions of their profits to help fight HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa by providing testing, counseling, treatment and prevention programs.
Apple has worked with the program for over a decade, creating (RED) versions of its iPod Nanos, Beats and accessories for iPads and the Apple Watch, but this will be the first time the iPhone gets a (RED) makeover of its very own.
The company revealed that (RED) has raised over $465 million for its Global Fund since 2006, and more than $130 million of that has come from Apple.
It’s widely expected that the company’s next big release will be the iPhone 8 later this year, but if you’re already in the market for a new phone, consider going red to help fund this great cause.
