“We were just talking, and before we knew it, he was under the car.”
A driver drove into at least four people leaving a gay bar in Houston Wednesday night, killing one person and injuring several others.
The driver, 25-year-old Cordale Robinson, hopped up onto the sidewalk outside Bayou City Bar & Grill in Houston’s LGBT-friendly Montrose neighborhood. “It just appeared out of nowhere and he just came in and started hitting and running over people and dragging people and tearing up people’s cars,” witness Teanna Macintosh told The Houston Chronicle.

Police say Robinson was involved in an altercation before jumping in his car and driving through the parking lot at about 2am, hitting four or five people and several other vehicles. The owner of the car, Caltrell Jones, told KTRK-TV tha Robinson was just trying to escape the fight and didn’t intentionally hit the crowd.
He was taken to the hospital with injuries and has been charged with aggravated assault and murder.
The man Robinson killed, 25-year-old Jared Jacobs, recently graduated from college and had started working as a nurse at Houston Methodist. In a statement, hospital administrators called him “an incredible asset to the ICU.”
Jacobs, who identified as bisexual, was reportedly dragged by the car for some time. “He didn’t know anyone who was fighting,” his friend Edwin Lopez, told KTRK. “We were just talking, and before we knew it, he was under the car. He couldn’t speak to me but he was [alive], I could feel him breathing.”
Jacobs died from his injuries at the hospital.
