It’s official! Just announced on The Today Show, Madonna is headlining Day 2 of Pride Island at NYC Pride and WorldPride, making her the biggest act to grace the many stages of this huge LGBTQ event.
Rumored for months, Madonna announced her performance herself with a video that was shared by NBC’s Carson Daly. In the video, Madonna can be seen with a huge pride flag draping her body, and she says, “I hear you. I’ll be on Pride Island where I was born.”
Madonna joins already announced legendary DJs for that night Abel and Morabito. Tickets sold out months ago. Audience members shouldn’t be expecting a full show from the pop diva, just a few of the biggest hits from her catalogue.
So… Madonna, performing on a pier, to a crowd of 7,000 queer people, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising that happened years ago in this city? This promises to be a fantastic moment that will be talked about for years to come.
And we can’t wait.
