Pride season is upon us and if you haven’t already done so, you may want to dust off those rainbow flags and pull that glitter out from storage, because we’ll be celebrating all the colors of the rainbow starting this weekend! One of the biggest LGBT+ pride festivals in the nation will take place next weekend, June 8th-9th in Los Angeles. With thousands of festival goers every year, L.A. Pride attracts some of the biggest names in entertainment and calls for a month-long celebration throughout all areas of Los Angeles.

To kick-off L.A. Pride this year, the Los Angeles Dodgers will hold their 7th Annual LGBT Night on Friday, May 31st. The Dodgers are partnering with L.A. Pride and providing a special event ticket package that includes a game ticket, an exclusive Dodger LGBT-themed duffle bag and access to the 2019 LA Pride kickoff party at Dodger Stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Right Field Plaza Bar. For fans of the hit Netflix show Queer Eye, the Dodgers will welcome cast and creator David Collins as part of the LGBT Night celebration.

Braverman shares that LGBT Night is not the only day of the year that the Dodgers work to give back to the LGBT community. They donate time and money to The Trevor Project, actively engaging in their volunteer program for education and awareness. Additionally, they work with the Christopher Street West Foundation and L.A. Pride as both as sponsors and aligning their mission with their initiatives.
When asked what he thinks Dodgers feel about their continued support for the LGBT+ community, Braverman said:
This year’s L.A. Dodgers LGBT Night will also feature owner and tennis legend Billie Jean King throwing the first pitch, Hairspray’s Nikki Blonsky singing the national anthem, the Los Angeles LGBT Center being honored with the Community Hero Award, and a special mix of music by DJ Bowie Jane for the culminating Pride fireworks show after the game against the Phillies.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Los Angeles LGBT Center which coincidentally aligns with 2019 also being the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots—the events that ignited the pride festivals we know today.
