Former *NSYNC band member Lance Bass came out publicly as gay in 2006, however there was a certain someone who knew about his sexuality years before.
Lance, 40, confessed to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that he told pop icon Britney Spears that he was gay in 2004 on the night of her first wedding to Jason Alexander!
“It was the night that she got married the first time in Vegas to Jason,” he said during the show on Monday, July 22. “So I went up to Vegas to kind of see the craziness that was happening.”
“And she was a little upset once she realized what she had done because, you know, it was a funny thing,” he said of her first marriage, which was annulled just 55 hours later. “And then she started, like, really crying and, like, she was so upset.”
“And so I took her to her room and we were sitting on her bed and she wouldn’t stop crying, so I was like, ‘I’m gay,’” Bass continued. “And it made her stop crying… She chuckled.”
Lance came out two years later in a PEOPLE cover story. Others former boy band members who have done the same include Ricky Martin (Menudo), Jonathan Knight (New Kids on the Block) and George Michael (Wham!)
The television personality and author started dating painter and actor Michael Turchin in 2011. They got engaged in 2013 and married on December 20, 2014, at the Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
Their event was filmed and televised in a special E! presentation: Lance Loves Michael: The Lance Bass Wedding that aired on February 5, 2015.
Lance and his *NSYNC bandmates (minus Justin Timberlake) reunited on stage at Coachella with pop princess Ariana Grande in April.
