“Santa’s Husband” goes on sale October 10.
A new children’s book will depict Santa as a gay black man in an interracial relationship, publisher Harper Design announced Tuesday.
Santa’s Husband will tell the story of a black Santa and his white husband, both of whom live and work in the North Pole. In the book, Santa’s spouse often fills in for his partner at mall appearances, which is why so many people assume old Saint Nick is white.
Daniel Kibblesmith, a staff writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, penned the Christmas parody after tweeting this past December that he would tell his future child that Santa was black.
“[We] have decided our future child will only know about Black Santa,” he wrote. “If they see a white one we’ll say ’That’s his husband’”

On Tuesday, Kibblesmith tweeted a photo of the book’s original concept art, which shows the couple donning Santa suits while looking lovingly into each other’s eyes.
