Apple CEO Tim Cook mentions Stonewall and self-censorship at Stanford graduation
Where some schools are banning gay speakers, Stanford invited Apple’s openly gay CEO, Tim Cook to address its graduates today. While much of the speech was about Silicon Valley needing to accept responsibility, the Tim Cook Stanford speech used the 50th anniversary of Stonewall to make a point about the importance of leaving a legacy for the future.

Apple‘s Tim Cook said Anderson Cooper had an important influence on his decision to come out as gay, which he did in 2014, making him the first CEO of a Fortune 500 company to do so.
Cook spoke with the Washington Post in a wide ranging interview on Saturday, and answered questions about his coming out process. Cook says it took about a year.
