Gay life doesn’t end at 50, it’s only just beginning
You might think media has no interest in gay people over 50, but there’s finally an outlet catering to that demographic.
Gay 50 Plus is a new online magazine encouraging LGBTI people how to grow gracefully, or disgracefully.
Magazine for gay people over 50
The mag, from Bear World Media, is ‘telling people not only is it OK to be gay, it’s also OK to be older’.
There will be sections like entertainment, travel, food and style, as well as health, finances and retirement.
CEO of Bear World Media, Richard Jones said: “I am so proud to be launching our new site, Gay 50 Plus.
‘There’s a joke in the LGBT community that you are old and forgotten once you are over 40, and it can sometimes seem that way when you look at most images of ourselves in the media.
‘Our goal is to showcase how life can be lived at 50 and beyond while remaining relevant, because for most of us, a fun and busy life is just beginning!’
Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and
Transgender Elders have estimated there are 3 million LGBTI people age 55+ living in the US.
