Music legends Cheryl and Twiggy have been confirmed to be guest judges on the UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Both will judge for one episode alongside RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton and Alan Carr on the highly-anticipated British spin-off.
Writing on Instagram, Cheryl posted: “I am SO excited to tell you that I will be a guest judge on the first ever series of UK Drag Race !!!!!
“I am such a huge fan of the show and can not wait to watch our UK queens make their mark! Coming soon to @bbcthree .. Gentlemen Start your engines and may the best woman win.”
In a follow-up statement, she said: “I have always admired the work and dedication that goes into drag and have learned over the years that it is an art form. It is not only fun and glamorous but equally as skillful and admirable, I find it incredibly inspiring.
“I just love the make up, creativity and the drama. I am honoured to be a guest judge!”
And singer and model, Twiggy, added: “You see the most gorgeous women in the most glamorous outfits. I love the creativity of the clothes and the makeup. I have been to a few drag shows and they’re brilliant and fun.”
The critically-acclaimed series is set to make its UK debut later this year on BBC 3. Other guest judges confirmed so far include former Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell, Little Mix singer Jade Thirwall, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, former Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield and Chewing Gum creator Michaela Coel.
Drag Race UK will run for eight episodes and will feature ten queens. Earlier this year, Mama Ru teased there’ll be many more seasons of the British spin-off heading our way in the coming years.
“Oh my goodness, when they see this show, they are going to flip. And I predict that we will be doing this English edition of Drag Race for many years to come,” RuPaul said of the show’s future.
“I think also, audiences around the world are going to start to require the English version, because it’s different, it’s the same but it’s different. There’s a different tone.”
Explaining what makes the new version different from the American original, Michelle added: “There’s an English-ness, a British-ness about it, you can feel it. And I think that’s giving it a different life, and a charm that the American one doesn’t have.”
