Former US President Barack Obama got behind a on Tuesday (4 June).

‘You’ve got a lot to be proud of’ Obama said in a tweet to Jiwandeep Kohli, a bisexual brain scientist who colorful pride turban has gone viral.

‘Thanks for everything you do to make this country a little more equal’.

‘Turban looks great, by the way’ he also wrote and wished everybody a happy pride month.

The Sikh neuropsychology researcher based in San Diego Kohli went viral in a tweet by marking the start of Pride Month in the US with a rainbow turban.

He shared a photo of himself sporting a turban with all the colors of the rainbow.

‘I feel fortunate to be able to express all these aspects of my identity, and will continue to work toward ensuring the same freedom for others’ Jiwandeep Kohli wote on Twitter.

Kohli, who researches autism, appeared on (the US version of the Great British Bake Off) last year.

As of Tuesday evening, his tweet had received more than 80,000 likes.

Responding to Obama’s tweet Kohli said: ‘I’m a fairly verbose person, but today I am lost for words’.

‘Thank you for your support and the complement, Mr. Obama.’

‘If I can ever repay them with pastries, please let me know’ he also said.

In a separate tweet, Kohli explained how he got his look:

‘One of my normal black turbans that I supplemented with strips of other colors in exactly the right places’ he explained.

‘Took about an hour of tying, untying, and safety pinning, but totally worth it!’

Both and Muslims often wear turbans, a piece of material wrapped around the head.
