‘Yeah LGBT people LOVE it when straight people mock their lives for views and a laugh’
Harry Styles, former One Direction member, locked lips with TV host James Corden on a recent segment of Carpool Karaoke.
But not everyone found the twosome’s antics particularly hilarious…
The skit was filmed as Harry took over hosting duties for James’s US television programme, The Late Late Show.
In the two-minute clip, James can be singing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town alongside some of his star guests from 2017, including Sam Smith, P!nk, Miley Cyrus and Fifth Harmony.
‘I did not expect that for Christmas…’
At the end of the video, Harry and James share the kiss, with the latter reacting ‘I did not expect that for Christmas…’ (Never mind the fact it looked a little staged, James!).
Twitter users were divided in their opinion of the kiss, with some perceiving is as mocking homosexuality to generate publicity.
Some questioned whether the kiss was newsworthy:
Meanwhile, some recognized Harry and James for speaking out on LGBTI issues and questioned whether their act of kissing was helpful to this cause.
Other online commentators added ‘so funny I almost laughed‘ and ‘He didn’t expect that… but it looked totally staged’.
It’s not even the first time the pair have kissed. They also locked lips in 2013 on British TV show A League Of Their Own.
Sign of the Times singer Harry released his self-titled debut album in May this year. It reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic.
The star has won plaudits for waving rainbow flags at concerts. He also made headlines when he said he doesn’t feel the need to label his sexuality.
