Allen’s lawyers say the claim is a “complete fabrication.”
Former NBA star Ray Allen is in the middle of a legal battle with a man who is claiming to be his former lover.
Allen first claimed he was being catfished by University of Central Florida employee Bryant Coleman, who he says pretended to be several different women online. The married athlete then filed legal documents to ensure that “private information” he gave up while chatting with Coleman online are not leaked.
Coleman is denying Allen’s allegations, however, and instead insists that the two were in a romantic relationship that goes back several years.
“[Ray’s] account of our relationship is false,” Coleman told TMZ Sports. “Ray knows how I look, he knows how my voice sounds, he knows how I think, and most importantly, he knows my heart.”
“However, because of confidentially considerations, I am not in a position to provide a more detailed response to Mr. Allen’s false and salacious claims,” he added. “I will rely on the courts to protect me against Mr. Allen’s violent threats and false accusations.”
Although it’s unclear what “violent threats” he’s referring to, Coleman was previously granted a restraining order against Allen, claiming the NBA star was stalking him.
Allen’s legal team denies Coleman’s claims, saying the athlete is not gay and has never met or spoken to Coleman.
“Ray obviously hasn’t threatened anyone,” his lawyers told TMZ. “Any statement or inference otherwise is a complete fabrication. Ray wants nothing to do with Mr. Coleman, who obviously has some serious issues with understanding the difference between fact and fantasy.”
