The governor of Hawaii signed three LGBTQ bills into law: a ban on the gay and trans panic defense, a conversion therapy ban, and another allowing nonbinary gender markers on state ID.
Governor David Ige (D) signed a law giving applicants a third option in addition to male and female for drivers’ licenses: an “X.” The new option will be available starting in July 2020.

The New York legislators have passed a ban on Wednesday, barring the use of “gay panic” and “transgender panic” defenses in murder cases within the state. Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to sign the bill.

A bill to ban discrimination against LGBTQ adoptive and foster families was introduced in the House yesterday.
Representative John Lewis (D-GA) and Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Jennifer González (R) introduced the Every Child Deserves a Family Act, which would ban discrimination against LGBTQ people who want to adopt or foster a child by agencies that receive federal money.
The bill would also ban conversion therapy for minors in the child welfare system.
