On Wednesday, June 26, the Bay Area will host the Inaugural San Francisco Pride Pro-Am Golf Tournament at the TPC Harding Park. It will double as a benefit for the SF LGBT Pride Celebration Committee, a group whose proceeds benefit LGBTQ nonprofits and other organizations focusing on HIV, homelessness and animal welfare.
The tourney will follow an easy and enjoyable scramble format where groups continue playing from whichever ball went the furthest.
The $250 entry fee, which is due June 12, includes a donation to SF Pride, a round of golf, golf cart, box lunch, champagne cocktail toast and light hors d’ oeuvres after golfing. Non-golfers can still attend the after-golf awards reception and champagne toast for $50.
While players can register individually or in groups, each foursome will be joined by a local PGA Professional who’ll help advise groups through the picturesque and challenging 163-acre, par-72 course. The course has hosted PGA events and will also host the 2020 PGA Championship and 2025 President’s Cup.
The tournament has been organized in partnership with the Northern California Professional Golfers Association and The First Tee of San Francisco, a year-round life skill, golf instruction and mentoring program.
In addition, SF Pride Golf Tournament organizers are offering scholarships to a golf clinic conducted by a local PGA professional, for those interested. You can get more info at their event website.
