When Chuck Holmes founded adult film studio Falcon Entertainment, aka Falcon Studios, in 1971, gay porn was generally of poor quality. Holmes set high standards and began creating an empire, which continued to grow with the rise of VHS.

seed-moneyDocumentary film “Seed Money: The Chuck Holmes Story” takes viewers inside the birth of Falcon Studios, its rise amid antigay laws and the subsequent philanthropic efforts of Holmes, who found his money more welcome than himself.

Holmes was a key figure in helping to build organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign and the LGBT Victory Fund with his large donations. He died in 2000 from liver failure, a complication from AIDS.

“Seed Money” was officially released last year and has played at a number of major gay film festivals, such as Inside Out and Outfest Los Angeles.
