The former Supreme and 12-time Grammy nominee hit West Hollywood to promote a remix of a classic single
Clubbers at the Abbey in West Hollywood – one of the most famous gay bars and clubs on the planet – were treated to a very special surprise guest on Saturday night. Iconic singer Diana Ross dropped by with son, Evan Ross.
Ross, 73, took briefly to the dance floor, alongside the Abbey’s muscled go-go dancers. TMZ reports that she hit the venue to promote a new remix of her classic track, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
Her son, Evan, 29 – husband of Ashlee Simpson – looked on proudly.
Her appearance marks the start of a busy year for Ross, who will be performing live throughout 2018. She’ll be performing later this month on Hawaii, followed by nine nights at the Encore Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas in February, besides other dates.
Abbey Bar owner David Cooley had teased Ross’ appearance on his Instagram and was on hand to welcome the gay icon personally. He later called it a ‘magical night’.
He said the singer, ‘gave so much love and energy last night … even my dancers couldn’t keep up with her. Amazing and so magical.’
A spokesperson for Abbey Food & Bar told GSN, ‘Accompanied by her son, Evan Ross, publicist Mark Young, and owner of The Abbey, David Cooley, Ms. Ross wowed the crowd with her new song and graciously interacted with fans of all generations.
‘Ms. Ross stated that “she hadn’t been to a club like The Abbey since Studio 54, but The Abbey does it better all because of David Cooley.”
‘Sporting a fitted black pant ensemble with gold corset belt, Ms. Ross took to the catwalk to dance for her hit record before she waved goodbye to everyone while thanking them for their love and support.’
